The beginning of Arita ware and the roots of "Riso Kiln"Arita, Saga Prefecture, is the place where porcelain was first fired in Japan. It all began in the early 17th century when a potter named Yi Sam-pyeong, who came from Korea, discovered porcelain stone in Izumiyama, Arita. This marked the beginning of a porcelain culture that has continued for over 400 years. Riso Kiln, which opened on the site of Yi Sam-pyeong's former residence, was founded in 1930. While carrying on the traditions of Arita ware, they are never bound by it, challenging themselves to create new shapes and pursuing beautiful forms that are timeless.
The charm of the creator
The charm of the creator
A 400-year-old blue-and-white porcelain fragment was discovered by chance in a backyard. The current fourth-generation owner, Shinji Terauchi, was so captivated by the deep indigo color and the expression of its lines that he set out to interpret and reconstruct the essence of the ancient techniques with his own hands. The tableware that Terauchi creates embodies the scent of old Imari, the warmth of handwork, and a sensibility for the modern dining table. His pursuit of timeless beauty is evident in every stroke of the wheel and painting, and is endowed with a definite individuality and perfection.
How to make
Cook the noodles in boiling water for the time indicated on the package, then drain thoroughly. Serve in the dissolved soup and top with a pinch of dried komiboshi seaweed. The umami of the nori seaweed will permeate the soup, creating a richer flavor.
Arrangement
"Komiboshi" can be used not only for ramen, but also as a finishing touch to salads, pasta, and gratin. Just one sprinkle will add depth to your dish, elevating an everyday dish to a special flavor.
Donburi/Astragalus
This elegant bowl features delicate carvings on a white background. It suits both Japanese and Western styles, and looks beautiful with ramen, soup, and side dishes. Pair it with a spoon with the same texture to add a touch of elegance to your meal.
