Tradition and history of product items
Tradition and history of product items
Connecting the traditions of Japan's Edo period to the present. The art of making washi paper took root in Nao, Saga Prefecture, in 1690, during Japan's Edo period. The technique was passed down from hand to hand, and eventually the name "Nao Washi" spread nationwide. However, with the onset of mechanization, the flame of tradition gradually faded, and out of the 100 washi-making houses that once existed, there is now only one, "Nao Hand-Made Washi." Flowing through each sheet of paper is the memory of Japan's nearly lost handicrafts. Every time your fingertips touch it, the breath of a distant past is quietly revived, reminding you of the joy of entrusting your thoughts to words.
The charm of the creator
The charm of the creator
Nao Washi paper combines the beauty of a thin, translucent light with its durability, and has long been popular as a decoration for festivals and a tool for everyday life. Craftsman Taniguchi, who inherited this tradition, pursues new possibilities for washi paper, infusing his handiwork with a modern sensibility. Traditional washi papermaking is based on the premise of regeneration, and is the foundation of sustainability. This technique is also used in the packaging of BVLGARI's "BVLGARI IL CIOCCOLATO," which is themed around "regeneration" and "recycling."
Stationery
